RMYC offers several options for sail training and we are currently assessing the potential of training courses in 2021. The information below provides insight into the courses that were offered in 2019, with details on how to get in touch.

RMYC Keelboat Crew Course

– Based on the RYA Competent Crew syllabus, this course is suitable both for beginners and for sailors with some experience on dinghies who would like to try keelboat racing;

RMYC Start Sailing Course

– This short course will put you at the helm of a keelboat and teach you the basics of sailing. It is ideal for those with experience as crew or with some experience on dinghies;

RYA Start Racing Course

– This short course will extend your competency in sailing and and teach you the basics of racing.

Other Sailing Opportunities

We also offer many less formalised opportunities to try your hand at sailing on the river: we warmly welcome at any time prospective members,either owners or crew, coming along on a race day to see what goes on and join in with a race or two – contact the  club secretary or  training officer in the first instance to arrange a date. We look forward to seeing you.

Club Facilities

The RMYC is undertook a major refurbishment of its premises and as part of that it fitted out a training room for members. The Friends of HMS Conway supported that work so the room was named The Conway Training Room. Numerous books and seamanship/navigational itunes have been loaned.
