The Menai Strait Regattas are raced over a fortnight in late July to early August. The sailing takes place on the Menai Strait, a narrow stretch of water separating Anglesey from mainland North Wales.

The event is largely based at Beaumaris towards the Northern end of the Strait but other venues along the Strait are included right up to Caernarfon towards the Southern end.

The majority of the boats racing are classic boats such as the Fifes, MSOD’s, Hilbres, Operas, Half Raters, COD’s, and of course the Mersey Mylnes from RMYC. We also welcome Cruisers and Dinghies in handicap fleets.

The regattas are generally sailed during the first two weeks of August.  Each day, there is a regatta organised by one of the participating clubs. There are twelve regattas in all, including the iconic races round Puffin Island and the Race Through from Beaumaris to Caernarfon through the Swellies. The RMYC Regatta is traditionally on the second Thursday, and is followed by our famous cocktail party.
