The Royal Mersey Yacht Club was given its Royal Charter by Queen Victoria in 1844, making it one of the longest established Yacht Clubs in the UK.  For over 175 years the Club has promoted yacht racing on the River Mersey and adjoining waters.

The Club focuses on one-design keelboat racing, with fleets of Etchells, Squibs and the iconic Mersey Mylne designed specifically for RMYC.

There is an active programme of racing from April to September offering both weekday evening races and events at weekends and Bank Holidays.

The Club House is located at Rock Ferry on the Wirral, and is a few yards from the slipway used for access to the River.  It is a short distance from the Mersey Tunnel and, with fast links to the M56 and M53 motorways, the Club is within easy access for members in Lancashire, Cheshire, Greater Manchester and beyond.

Deep water moorings are organised by the club for class boats.  Club launches will ferry you to your boat on race days and our highly skilled Boatman will help to ensure your safety during racing.

Winter storage is available for members’ boats in the Club boat-yard and the Boatman also offers skilled boat maintenance and repair services.

The Club House is also available for private functions.

Everyone is welcome, from experienced sailors to interested novices, and we run a series of taster & training events to establish and develop new members within the club.

There is a very active social programme centred in the Club House. From the regular suppers that are served after racing to the formal dinners and balls, the Club offers members ample opportunity for post-race relaxation and many occasions for inviting guests to social events.
